چکیده

Abstract Objective The present study investigated whether clinical variables related to illness onset (age at symptom onset, diagnosis, first psychiatric hospitalization) predict deviation from expected cognitive ability. Additionally, we examined the potential moderating effect of psychosis groups (“biotypes”). Method Cognitive ability was predicted based on demographic and estimated premorbid intelligence modeled in controls. degree which current (based Brief Assessment Cognition Schizophrenia) deviated computed 362 schizophrenia, schizoaffective, bipolar with patients recruited community (Mage = 39.11; 52.2% male; 41.7% White, 41.4% Black, 16.9% Other). Linear regression assessed relationship between scores moderation analysis performed using moderated multiple regression. Results Only age hospitalization (F(1,328) 3.93, p < 0.05), such that younger individuals had a greater full model significantly (F(5,330) 14.05, 0.001), there significant only for biotype 3 (t 7.37, 0.001). Discussion Findings suggest severity (requiring hospitalization), rather than earlier may be risk factor disruption development. association group membership (characterized by less impairment) lower reflect reduced variability abilities other biotypes. When assessing spectrum patients, clinicians should consider how factors impact developmental trajectories.
